Andrew Lindo

Andrew Lindo strangled and stabbed his fiancee Marie Stewart to death while their two young children slept upstairs and then hid her body in a suitcase in his garage.

29 year old Lindo was told he would spend at least 22 years behind bars for the murder. The judge commented on his "extraordinary and chilling lack of remorse" and on his "extraordinary cunning and facility for deceit".

He had had a string of affairs with other women. He told them he was a struggling single father who had been deserted by the mother of his children and transformed his family home into a "bachelor pad", with no sign of Miss Stewart's existence, when these women visited.

At one point he was in a relationship with two work colleagues at the same time, while he was living with Miss Stewart. There is also an allegation that he was involved with a 15-year-old girl.

Angela Rylance told the jury in the trial that she started a relationship with Lindo in August 2010 but became suspicious about the defendant's claim to be a single father but he kept reassuring her they were no longer together and Miss Stewart had left their children with him.

After Lindo killed Miss Stewart on December 18 last year, he collected Miss Rylance and took her back to his house where they spent the night cuddling together. In the two months between Miss Stewart's murder and her body being found, some thought Miss Rylance had moved in. She spent Christmas Day at the house, not realising Miss Stewart's body was in the garage below.

The judge advised the parole board to be extremely cautious when considering him for release. Lindo claimed that he had lost control after an argument and wanted to plead guilty to manslaughter, but the judge said it was a "cruel and sustained" attack and added that the motive remained unclear.

You'll have a long wait for this one, Old Nick, but I'm sure you'll give him a warm welcome!
